Rogan turned his career from being a kickboxer to being a comedian. In 1988, he got his first stand-up comedy job and entertained at Stitches comedy club located in Boston. During that time he also did various jobs including giving out newspapers, training martial arts, doing construction moil, being a limousine chauffeur and a secret investigator.

After relocating to Los Angeles in 1994, he secured a job at MTV where he used to perform a sitcom called Half- Hour Comedy Hour. He also entertained at the Comedy Store for 13 years.
